Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 19, 2014
The Immunoglobulin Nursing Society announces the launch of the first certification program of immunoglobulin nurses. The goals of the IgNS certification, and the Immunoglobulin Certified Nurse (IgCN®) Credential are to protect the public by assessment, validation and documentation of the knowledge, skills, and overall clinical competence of nurses managing and administering Ig (Immunoglobulin) therapy.
IgCN® Credentialing is designed to certify qualified nurses after an assessment of their knowledge, skills, and competence in Ig nursing. IgCN® is the first professional credential specific to the Ig nursing specialty practice. This is an important achievement not only for the certificants, but for the Ig Nursing profession as a whole, said Jan Jones, President of IgNS. The IgNS Certification elevates Ig nursing by establishing professional standards and facilitating the recognition of Ig nursing as a specialty.
As the immediate beneficiaries, Ig Nurses can advance their career by becoming IgCNs. The IgCN® Credential empowers nurses to be confident clinical decision-makers, said Amy Clarke, RN, the chair of the IgNS Certification Board.
Specifically, the IgCN® credential will enable practitioners to:
Validate expert, specialized knowledge
Document competence and skills
Improve patient safety, satisfaction, and deliver the highest level of patient care
Demonstrate professional commitment
Garner peer, collegial and employer respect
Boost earning power
The value IgCN® credentialing provides to nurses is the formal credential that recognizes advanced knowledge and skills in a specialized area of practice. I have witnessed how specialization cultivates a nurse™s dedication to and expertise in this complex specialty. The IgCN® credentialing examination is a mechanism by which the Ig nurse has the opportunity to achieve total patient satisfaction, stated Cherylann Gregory, RN, BSN; CEO/President of Specialty Pharmacy Nursing Network, Inc.
The IgCN® credentialing examination will be available in 200 computerized testing centers in the US and Canada starting in May 2014. The IgCN® credentialing examination will be open to Ig nurses who meet eligibility requirements based on their education and experience.
