Dr. Salman Bhai is the Director of the Neuromuscular Center at the Institute of Exercise and Environmental Medicine and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his medical degree at Harvard Medical School and Neurology residency, Neuromuscular fellowship, and Medical Education Certificate at Harvard through Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women™s Hospital. His clinical sub-specialization focuses on inflammatory myopathies. He is leading the creation of the first myositis center in his region as well as working to address health disparities in the field. He is the principal investigator of a translational neuromuscular and physiology lab working to better understand muscle signaling in myositis and how inflammation alters muscle signaling and metabolism. He also serves as the site-PI for multiple clinical trials in metabolic and inflammatory myopathies.
